The Brownwood Area is proud of it's award-winning schools and the rich diversity of higher education.
In 2009, Brownwood ISD completed 29.4 million dollars in renovations to all of its campuses from a bond election passed in 2005. Renovations and additions improved security and technology at each of the seven campuses in the district
Brownwood ISD has a tradition of excellence in academic programs as well as extracurricular competitions.
1-to-1 Initiative
Brownwood High School is a front runner in the 1-to-1 Initiative. In the fall of 2009, every faculty member and student recieved new Apple Mac Books to help facilitate their learning atmosphere and experience. The students can access online text books and email assignments, while teachers can communicate more efficiently with students and their parents as necessary.

Howard Payne University confers the degress of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Assosiates in Ministry, Master of Arts in youth Ministry, and Associates in Health Science.
Howard Payne University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Social Work Education, and the State Board for Educator Certification.
Ranger College
Brownwood & Early Branches
Ranger College, head quarted in Ranger, Texas, is one of the oldest public two-year colleges in Texas. As of Fall 2009, a Ranger College campus will be located in the Heartland Mall, in Early. A variety of courses will be offered in, as well as dual credit programs in all Brown County ISDs. The Vocational Nursing Program offered in Early and the Cosmotology Program in Brownwood will continue, as well. Exciting new developments, including a Registered Nursing Program is in place for future growth and expansion of Ranger College services to the Brownwood Area.

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is a public coeducational institution of higher education offering courses of study in technical education leading tothe award of Certificates and Associate Science degrees. TSTC also provides technical education and training to business and industry, continuing education to the public, and training programs for community and state economic development. Texas State Technical Colleges are fully accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools.
Degrees Offered from Brownwood Campus: Associates or Certificates (1 year program), Chemical Dependency Counseling, Emergency Medical Tech/Paramedic, Health Information Technology, Software & Business Accounting, Computer Networking Systems & Administration, Drafting & Design Technology, Welding Technology (Certificate only), Mecatronics Technology, LVN to RN Career Bridge, and several online courses through the TSTC system.
