The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the Early Chamber of Commerce held a joint ribbon cutting on Saturday, October 15th to welcome new member Matthew Williams - State Farm Insurance Agent for the opening of their new offices at 3600 Hwy 377 South in Brownwood.
Matthew is a long-time Brownwood resident, a member of the Brownwood Kiwanis and a board member for the ARK Domestic Violence Shelter. State Farm's mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams.
Matthew and his staff can assist with auto insurance, home and property insurance, life insurance, health insurance, banking products, and annuities and mutual funds.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Wendlee Broadcasting have teamed up again this year to host the 5th Annual Trick or Treat Trail. This family friendly event will be held in the Depot Plaza area on Monday, October 31st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Area businesses and organizations will offer candy, goodies, games and other fun activities free of charge to area residents.
Also included during the event will be a Halloween Costume Contest sponsored by Demand Staff. The contest will offer prizes in the categories of most creative costume, best couple costume , best family costume, best group costume, cutest baby costume and best children's costume. Entry forms for the costume contest are available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce - 600 E. Depot Street or online at BrownwoodChamber.org.
During the Trick or Treat Trail, a family-friendly movie will be shown in the Depot pavilion lawn sponsored by Affiliated Bank and Baird Brothers Express Car Wash.
Area businesses are encouraged to set up an activity booth during the Trick or Treat Trail to offer free games and candy to those in attendance.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the Early Chamber of Commerce held a joint ribbon cutting on Monday, October 3rd for the Brown County Democratic Party at the opening of their new headquarters.
The new headquarters is located at 304 West Commerce Street in Brownwood, next door to Payless Shoe Store.
The Democratic Headquarters will serve as the home base for the Brown County Democratic Party from now through Election Day and will offer information and signs for Democratic candidates. The new headquarters will be open weekdays from 1:00 to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays noon until 5:00 PM.
Tuesday is National Night Out for Brown County and area residents are getting ready to hold block parties to meet neighbors and local law enforcement.
This year, dozens of block parties are scheduled across the county in Brownwood, Early, Bangs, and several rural locations.
The Brownwood and Early Police Departments; the Brown County Sheriff's office; area fire departments; along with other city and county officials will visit these parties taking place Tuesday, October 4th between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
This year's National Night Out is sponsored locally by Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers, 3M Company, Hendrick Surgery Center, ATMOS Energy, Oncor, TexasBank, and Weldon Wilson Electric.

Neighbors throughout Brown County are being invited to join together for the 2016 National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, October 4th.
Coordinators of the local NNO event are currently looking for block captains to organize small gatherings in neighborhoods in Brown County. These gatherings will be a rallying point where neighbors can meet each other, visit with law enforcement officials, and send a message to potential criminals.
From 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on October 4th, residents in neighborhoods throughout Brown County are asked to spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout the area will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from police, contests, and other activities.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Representatives from the Brownwood Police Department, Brown County Sheriff's Office, Early Police Department, Bangs Police Department, area fire departments, and city officials will travel around Brownwood, Early, Bangs and Brown County during the event to visit these gatherings and speak to those in attendance.
Residents attending block parties are encouraged to bring canned tuna to benefit Good Samaritan Ministries, who will collect the donated cans during National Night Out.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for PAR Country Club of Comanche on Thursday, September 1st during the Brownwood Business Expo to welcome them as new members.
PAR Country Club is located at 1658 Highway 2861 in Comanche. It is noted for its 6,072 yard, Par 72, 18 hole golf course. They are nestled in the heart of Texas with rolling hills located on the banks of Proctor Area Recreational Lake, a 14,100 acre lake built on the Leon River. It is easily accessible and only a short drive from DeLeon, Dublin and Comanche.

The new headquarters is located at 1113 Clements Street in Brownwood, inside the old Wendy's building next to Home Depot.
The Republican Headquarters will serve as the home base for the Brown County Republican Party from now through Election Day and will offer information and signs for Republican candidates. The new headquarters will be open weekdays from 11 AM to 5:30 PM and 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays.
The Brown County Republican Party headquarters is operated by the volunteer efforts of the Brown County Republican Women's Club, the Pecan Valley Republican Women's Club and other local Republicans in the area.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for this year's Brownwood Business Expo which is set for September 1st at the Brownwood Coliseum. This year will mark the 22nd anniversary of the event with 65 business vendors scheduled to participate in various lines of trade.
The show will open at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 1st at the Brownwood Coliseum and will feature well-known, established businesses as well as some of the newest in the Brown County area. The public can visit with each business vendor and learn about the products and services that they offer.
Admission is only $2 and complimentary passes are available in advance for a limited time at the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce office. All visitors to the show will have the opportunity to win booth prizes from each of the exhibitors. Those who participate in the "Bingo" game may enter to win the Grand Door Prizes.
For the 10th year, the "Taste of Brownwood" returns to offer the community an opportunity to sample favorite recipes from local restaurants and caterers. From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, expo visitors can visit the "Taste of Brownwood" exhibitors and sample some of their most popular dishes. Each visitor will receive 4 free Taste of Brownwood tickets with the $2 admission fee. Those who choose to enter with a complimentary pass will need to purchase Taste of Brownwood tickets at the door the day of the show.

Owner Jeremy Serna wanted to bring Art to Brownwood for all ages. Painting with Friends is a place where family and friends can come together and have a good time while creating a personal piece of art to take home.
