The Brownwood Area and the Early Chambers of Commerce are partnering with Chamber member Village Profile® to produce the 2014 Community Profile & Membership Directory publication in both a traditional print version and also in a digital format. 

Thousands of new, full-color printed publications will provide a comprehensive guide to the Brownwood and Early areas as well as an overview of the community. The publication will be distributed to visitors, businesses, new families and local residents. In addition to the thousands of printed publications, the 2014 Brownwood Area and Early Community Profile & Membership Directory will be available digitally, 24/7 around the world via: • A publication website at the Community Profile Network®, hosted by Village Profile® at www.villageprofile.com, which will link to and from the Chamber’s own website.• A NewView eBook® of the entire publication can be downloaded FREE to laptops, desktops and smartphones (BlackBerrys, Treos, Palms, etc.).• The new iPhone/iPad/Android App program.• And a mobile, interactive advertiser directory with links to your website, Google mapping, locater points and updateable advertisements.

Serendipity Joins the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, August 1st for Serendipity celebrating their new membership.

Opened by Joey Broussard in June of 2013, Serendipity features vendors of various products including children’s clothing, antiques, home décor, furniture, hand painted art, women’s clothing including plus sizes and much, much more.  Stop by between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM Monday through Saturday and check out the great variety of products.

Young Leaders of Brown County to Host Summer Mixer August 20th

LOGOpatch250The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Brownwood Economic Development Corporation and Coggin Avenue Baptist Church Young Adults Small Group have teamed up to form the new Young Leaders of Brown County.

The purpose of the Young Leaders of Brown County is to provide young adults ages 22 – 35 living in the area opportunities to network with other young leaders, establish relationships to build a career and an enjoyable lifestyle. Throughout the year the group will host special events to facilitate the development of leadership skills and partnerships with business and community leaders necessary to grow as a young leader in the community.

On Tuesday, August 20th, the Young Leaders of Brown County will host a summer mixer, presented by Kohler, TexasBank and Citizens National Bank. This kickoff event will be held at the new resort style pool at the Brownwood Country Club from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Anyone living in the area between the ages of 22-35 is welcome to attend and enjoy refreshments, networking and the great pool. It is free to attend this adults only event and attendees are welcome to swim if they feel comfortable doing so, otherwise dress is casual. There will be food and drink service provided through the Country Club at the cost of the attendee.

"Invite friends and plan enjoy the beautiful pool and scenery at the Brownwood Country Club, swim or enjoy a game of washers, and meet fellow Young Leaders of Brown County," said Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce director of member services Missi Malone.

National Night Out Kickoff Event Set for August 6th; Sign Design Contest Announced

logo1Registration for National Night Out block parties will begin on Tuesday, August 6th at a kickoff event featuring contests, prizes, free food, bounce houses and more.

The kickoff event will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM at Coggin Park with free hot dogs provided by Bruner Auto Group and free drinks provided by Dr. Pepper.   Wendlee Broadcasting will be on hand providing live music and broadcast of the event.

"I am excited to get things started for our 4th Brown County National Night Out," said Brownwood Chief of Police Mike Corley.  "The kickoff on August 6th is a great idea and I hope we have a big turnout." 

Brown County's first ever "design a sign" contest winners will also be announced at the kickoff in conjunction with this year's National Night Out. Brown County students can enter the contest to design this year's yard signs to help advertise National Night Out. There is no cost to enter and first prize is $100 cash and a prize basket provided by merchants from Heartland Mall.

Deadline to enter the "design a sign" contest is August 2nd and entry forms can be picked up at Wendlee Broadcasting, Heartland Mall, and the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce. All entries will be on display at Heartland Mall.  See BrownwoodChamber.org for more contest details.

During the kickoff, residents across Brown County will also have their first chance to register their neighborhoods for a block party to be held during National Night Out on October 1st.

"Remember, this kickoff is a warm up for the 'real' National Night Out that will take place on Tuesday, October 1st," Corley said.  "NNO has been a huge success for our community and I want to thank the Brown County community for making it happen.  I look forward another big night in 2013.  I look forward to seeing everyone on August 6th for the warm up party."

Ribbon Cutting for Cowboy Capital Rollergirls

rollergiirlsThe Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, July 9th for the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls as new chamber members.

Established in 2011, they offer family friendly entertainment and volunteer services for area groups.

Their mission is to bring roller derby to Brownwood, Stephenville and surrounding communities and allow women the opportunity to learn and play roller derby. They foster athleticism, empowerment and sportsmanship among women, youth, and supporters, while benefiting local non-profit organizations though charitable donations and service. They seek to promote women’s athletics, provide an exciting game, and a fun family atmosphere for fans.
