Established in 2008, the Rusty Anchor Cafe serves home-cooked food served cafe style. They are located in Harbor Point at Lake Brownwood at 3071 Harbor Drive and are ready to serve great food.

New Brownwood/Early Community Guide Now Available

communityGuide2014 450The Brownwood and Early Chambers of Commerce have teamed up to produce the 2014-2015 community guide and membership directory which has recently been released.

The new full color magazine is an ideal community reference guide and will serve as the areas' informational publication for relocation and tourism as well as the local business guide for Chamber of Commerce members.

"The new magazine will be a valuable tool to find information about our communities," said Early Chamber Director Wanda Furgason.

The new publication is currently available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and the Early Chamber of Commerce and soon will be distributed throughout the community through local businesses, hotels and relocation packets.

"The magazine outlines area activities and attractions as well as history of the communities, government services, education, medical services and much more," said Brownwood Chamber Director of Member Services, Missi Malone. "It also serves as a Chamber membership directory for Brownwood and Early."

Chamber Wraps Up 2014 Total Resource Campaign

TopProducers450The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce finished up their 4th annual Total Resource Campaign on Tuesday, March 4th.

Seven volunteers were able to sell over $110,000 in sponsorships during this year's campaign.

Kim Peterson from the Lehnis Railroad Museum was named this year's Top Volunteer. Adam Lancaster from TexasBank was named this year's Top New Volunteer.

Other participating volunteers included Daniel Huston, Council Finance; Brett VanOverbeke, 3M Company; Natasha Goerdel, Blaylock Funeral Home; LeeAnn Clawson, Haynes Law Firm; and Curt Junkins, Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

The Chamber would like to thank all of this year's volunteers as well as the participating businesses helping to make this year's TRC a success.

Brownwood Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting for New State Park Mountain Bike Trail

statepark450The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting to commemorate the opening of the new mountain bike trail at the Lake Brownwood State Park.

The State Park will hold a grand opening celebration on Saturday, March 8th for the new 3 mile Nopales Ridge Trail with a 5K run/walk.

This is the first mountain bike trail for the park which will enhance the outdoor experience for visitors. The State Park also has several hiking trails to enjoy.

2014 Economic Summit Feb. 13 to Feature the Economic Impact of West Texas Oil & Gas on Brown County

ThomasTunstallThe Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and TexasBank are pleased to announce that registration for the 2014 Brownwood Area Economic Summit is currently underway. The event will be held on February 13 at Howard Payne University's Jackson Room in the Paul & Jane Meyer Leadership Center on Center Avenue from 7:30AM to 10 AM.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Thomas Tunstall, Research Director at the Institute for Economic Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He will present his study, "The Economic Impact of West Texas Oil & Gas" with an emphasis on Brown and surrounding counties. He was the principal investigator for a similar study done in 2012: the Economic Impact of the Eagle Ford Shale.

In addition, attendees will hear from Luke Legate, a consultant with the Joint Oil & Gas Education Initiative Association. He will discuss how businesses are affected by a large influx of oil and gas production and specifically, how Brownwood/Brown County businesses can position themselves to benefit from the increased oil and gas production.

Of local interest, the Brownwood Board of Realtors will discuss real estate trends. Recent sales tax and employment trends, analysis and forecast will be provided by the Brownwood Economic Development Corporation.

The presenting sponsor will be TexasBank. Gold sponsors are the Brownwood Economic Development Corporation and Prudential Moseley Real Estate.
