Brownwood Business Expo Set for September 3rd

2015ExpoLogoThe Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for this year's Brownwood Business Expo which is set for September 3rd at the Brownwood Coliseum.   This year will mark the 21st anniversary of the event with over 70 business vendors scheduled to participate in various lines of trade from banking, insurance and energy to home health services and personal well being.

The show will open at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 3rd at the Brownwood Coliseum and will feature well-known, established businesses as well as some of the newest in the Brownwood area.

Admission is only $2 and complimentary passes are available for a limited time at the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce office. All visitors to the show will have the opportunity to win booth prizes from each of the exhibitors. Those who participate in the “Bingo” game may enter to win one of the Grand Door Prizes.

For the 9th year, the “Taste of Brownwood” returns to offer the community an opportunity to sample favorite recipes from local restaurants and caterers. From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, showcase visitors can visit our “Taste of Brownwood” exhibitors and sample some of their most popular dishes. Each visitor will receive 4 free Taste of Brownwood tickets with the $2 admission fee. Those who choose to enter with a complimentary pass will need to purchase Taste of Brownwood tickets at the door the day of the show.

Concert Tickets Now On Sale For Feels Like Home Celebration

Turner KrackercomboimageConcert tickets for the 2015 Brownwood Feels Like Home Celebration main stage are now on sale.

This year's concert will feature the dual headliners of Josh Turner and Uncle Kracker on Saturday, September 19th, the second day of the three-day festival.

Advance concert tickets will be available for $25 each and can be purchased at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, KOXE, Heartland Mall, Wendlee Broadcasting or online at  

A limited number of preferred seating tickets will be available later in August.

The Brownwood Feels Like Home Celebration is a community-wide festival held September 18-20th in Brownwood, Texas featuring a variety of competitions, attractions, music, and food in addition to the main concert. This year's festival marks the 15th year of the event.

Ribbon Cutting for Tractor Supply

Tractor Supply is the operator of a rural lifestyle retail stores across the country. They supply unique products to support rural lifestyle, from welders and generators to animal care products and men and women's work wear. Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Holds Ribbon Cutting for Pecan Valley Genealogical Society

Genealogical RC 450The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, June 10th to welcome the Pecan Valley Genealogical Society to its membership.

This local History and Genealogy Library, a branch of the Brownwood Public Library, provides the community with genealogical, literary and educational services that promote and stimulate interest in history through family research. They assist visitors with family research, conduct educational programs and disseminate information to the public pointing out the importance of history, tradition, family knowledge and pride. The Pecan Valley Genealogical Society collection is comprised of local, regional, and national genealogical data that is available to assist the public with research, as well as preserve genealogical data and vital public records of Brown County and the surrounding areas.

Jimmie Deen Named Rodeo Parade Grand Marshal

GrandMarshal2015 300The Brown County Fair Association announces that Jimmie Deen will be the 52nd annual Brown County Rodeo Parade grand marshal.

Deen, a Brownwood native, has been involved with the Fair Association and rodeo for 45 years.  He has worked in a wide variety of positions from plumber, janitor, cook, board member to president.  He served 6 terms as president and 9 three-year terms on the fair board.  He began helping with the rodeo in 1970 and his first fair board term began in 1980.  Deen puts in an average 250 hours a year for the fair and rodeo.  

Jimmie began his association with the youth fair as a young man showing sheep.  After graduating from Brownwood High School, he attended Texas A & M University and graduated with an engineering degree.  After college, he worked for Ross Company in Early. He later went to work at 3M Brownwood and retired in 2014.  

Jimmie has been married to Linda Edgar Deen, Brown County’s first rodeo queen, for 44 years.  They have three sons, Brad and wife Leslie of Waxahachie, Cody and wife Annalyn of Early, and Adam of Colorado City.  They have five grandchildren, Kaitlyn and William of Waxahachie and Hayden, Hannah, and Hudson of Early.  All of Jimmie’s and Linda’s sons were active in the youth fair and now Hayden, Hannah, and Hudson intend to carry on the Deen tradition.  

The 52nd annual Brown County Rodeo Parade will travel through Downtown Brownwood and feature a wide assortment of entries. The parade will start Saturday, June 6th at 10 AM.

Awards will be presented for best in-town float, best out of town float, riding club awards, best decorated vehicles, best antique vehicles, best horse drawn vehicles, and best bikes/unicycle.

Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Holds Ribbon Cutting for Brownwood Public Library

Library450The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, May 19th to welcome the Brownwood Public Library as its newest member.

The library offers a wide variety of services to the public including Children’s Story Time, E-books, meeting spaces, and faxing, copying and printing services. The Brownwood Public Library is also gearing up for its Summer Reading Program to start in June and is currently wrapping up their latest outreach effort with the "Library Tomorrow" planning survey that identifies the needs and wants of how the library’s facilities, resources, and services can best serve the public.
